Tehran University of Medical Sciences Hosts Delegation from Kurdistan Region Health Syndicate
In a step toward enhancing international collaboration in health education, representatives from the Health Workers Syndicate of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq visited the School of Public Health at Tehran University of Medical Sciences to explore opportunities for joint certificate-based training programs.
According to the Office of International Affairs at the School of Public Health, the visit took place on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, and included a meeting with
Dr. Ahmad Ali Hanafi-Bojd, Vice Dean for International Affairs; Dr. Khosrow Sohrabi, Advisor to the Vice Chancellor for International Affairs and Head of the Iran-Kurdistan Scientific Cooperation Desk; Mr. Alireza Salehi, Head of the School’s Education Department; Ms. Marjan Behroozi Vand, International Affairs Expert; and Mr. Hossein Khodamoradi from the university’s International Office.
Dr. Hanafi Bejad welcomed the delegation and introduced the school’s academic departments and training capacities. The Iraqi delegation provided an overview of the Kurdistan Region Health Workers Syndicate, noting its membership of over 40,000 professionals across various health disciplines and emphasizing the educational needs of its members.
The syndicate representatives expressed keen interest in holding joint health education programs in Iraq and proposed a trilateral memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi Ministry of Health, the Kurdistan Health Syndicate, and Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
Mr. Salehi gave a detailed presentation on the MPH (Master of Public Health) program, including its background, structure, and available modules. Dr. Sohrabi reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to facilitate collaboration and assist in the enrollment process for Iraqi students.
This visit marked a significant step in strengthening academic ties and exchanging expertise between the two institutions. The meeting concluded with the exchange of gifts and a group photo to commemorate the occasion.
