Health Minister Appoints Dr. Iraj Fazel as His Representative in Supreme Medical Council
TUMSPR News: Iranian Health Minister, Dr. Hassan Hashemi, appointed Dr. Iraj Fazel as the head of Supreme Medical Council on September 12, 2013.
Based on the news by the Public Relations of Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Dr. Hassan Hashemi, the Health Minister, has appointed Dr. Iraj Fazel as the head of Supreme Council of Iran’s Medical Council on September 12, 2013.
In his letter, the Health Minister has referenced to Paragraph B of Article 8 of Iran’s Medical Council law, and considered Dr. Fazel’s commitment, competence and valuable experience as the reasons for the appointment. He has also wished Fazel would help realize the ethical and scientific values in all medical related practices and protect patients’ rights by utilizing the capacity of the medical society and maintaining a constructive interaction with Iran’s Medical Council.
Born in Ardestan in 1939 and holding a subspecialty in vascular surgery and trauma, Dr. Fazel has served in different governmental and nongovernmental positions. Some of the posts he has had in the past include: the Head of Iranian Association of Surgeons, a faculty member of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Head of Iran’s Academy of Medical Sciences for 19 years until 2010, Minister of Health, and Minister of Culture and Higher Education.
