This elective course aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of medical students in the field of oral and dental health. Regarding this initiative, Dr. Mohebbi stated: “The foundation of this project is based on the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO). It provides students with education on the fundamentals of oral health, prevention of oral and dental diseases, principles of nutrition, and trauma prevention.”
TUMS GC: Revolutionizing Healthcare with Virtual Clinics at Tehran University of Medical Sciences
The master's thesis of Mohammad Heydarian Manesh on "Virtual Clinics" was successfully implemented at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Launched in June 2018, these clinics provide remote healthcare services, especially to patients in remote areas, reducing costs and environmental impact while improving access to health services. Despite some operational challenges, the project shows great promise for the future of digital health in Iran and globally.
TUMS GC:Pioneering Liver Transplantation at Hakim Hospital, Tehran University of Medical Sciences
In this episode of TUMS GC, Dr. Parastou Ariana, Deputy of Treatment, and Dr. Alimohamad Moradi, a Liver and Pancreas Surgery Fellowship at Hakim Hospital, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, provided insights into the first liver transplant performed at Hakim Hospital. Dr. Ariana described the liver transplant program as one of Hakim Hospital’s missions and added that over a year of serious planning and preparation had been undertaken. She stated that with the use of advanced equipment and the collaboration of top surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, the procedure was successfully implemented. Dr. Moradi further explained that their patient was a 13-year-old boy with a rare enzymatic disorder. Due to an inability to metabolize cholesterol, he had developed fat deposits in his coronary arteries, making liver transplantation the only viable treatment for him.

One of the most significant risks that newborns of diabetic mothers face is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). This condition occurs when the baby's blood glucose levels drop below the normal range after birth. The risk is particularly high if the mother had hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) during pregnancy, as the baby's body produces excess insulin in response to the elevated maternal glucose levels.
