TUMS Chancellor pays a landmark visit to EMRI
Dr. Reza Malek Zadeh, Vice President of Research of Ministry of Health and Medical Education (MOHME) and Dr. Ali Jafarian, TUMS Chancellor paid an official visit to the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute(EMRI) of TUMS on 15th July 2014 to see the bulk of achievements made in this research institute.
At the start of this meeting, Dr. Larijani, Director-General of the EMRI presented an introduction of the EMRI and some of the activities of this Institute. He then drew the attention to 18 years activities of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute (EMRI) directed under his supervision.
Conducting Basic and Clinical research particularly on Diabetes and Osteoporosis as WHO collaborating center were expressed as the main objectives of the EMRI by Dr. Larijani.
following this landmark visit, Dr. Malekzadeh noting to inadequate infrastructures for research and education in the country emphasized that sufficient funds must be allocated for research.
Expressing that MOHME supports the research in the country; Dr. Malekzadeh also noted the importance of strong attention to the elite researchers within the country.
During the tour, the Chancellor emphasized that the university has the potential in line with its vision to allocate adequate resources to improve the Research. He then pointing out that science production is a skill said, “the academic programs and research conducted in this institute is impressive and salient". Noting that the university will support research centers and research activities, Dr. Jafarian added, “Special attention is given to the purposive approach to research in the Comprehensive map of the country".
The Chancellor ended his speech expressing that a realistic and ideal view must be considered in order to solve the health problems and needs of the country. Continuing the tour of visiting the EMRI, TUMS Chancellor visited different Research Divisions and Laboratory facilities of the Institute.
